Rolling Out the Saturday Night Short Track Fun at Peterborough Speedway

Get all the action you can handle as the Saturday night short track fun rolls into Central Ontario.

 

A capacity crowd was on hand Saturday, May 16th for the first night of local racing since last year’s Autumn Colours Classic. The New Country KX 105 2026 saw former track and series champions take checkered flags in 5 of the show’s 6 headline events.

Former champion Shawn Solomon claimed the Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock win over reigning titlist Alex Dallaire. Jacob Stavropoulos, Zac Cheng and Ryan Armstrong rounded out the top 5. Ryan Kimball was the best of the Late Model pack, with another former track champion Dan McHattie chasing him to victory lane. Ollie Ferguson, Jacob Mercer and John Owen followed the lead duo to the stripe.

 

Former title holder Bailey Jacobs was the Super Stock feature winner, over Colton Everingham. Myles Tyson – who has a Peterborough Speedway crown on his resume was next – followed by Donovan Price and Dan Archibald. An Autumn Colours Classic regular Doug Butler claimed the season’s inaugural SwitchTire Mini Stock ‘A’ main over John Lavalle, Matt McGrath, Cameron McGlashen and Dave Bragg.

 

The Gordon family continued to dominate the Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck running order as former champion Kyle Gordon took the win. Scott Jacobs, Adam Chatten, Shawn Murray and Stephen Bierworth rounded out the top 5. 2025 Trailers Plus Ontario Legend Car Series champ Dawson Drimmie returned to Dart Heating & Air Conditioning Victory Lane after scoring the headline event. Cole McFadden, Keaton Pipe, Adam Cuthbertson and multi-time titleholder Matt Haufe followed Drimmie across the line.

The second week of Peterborough Speedway’s 2026 schedule rolls to the starting line Saturday, May 23rd with a line-up that includes the Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck and Late Model divisions, plus the years first appearance of the Nadeau’s Collision Junior Late Models and GEN-3 Electrical OMRS SportsMods. Grandstand gates open at 5:00, with the first Great Canadian RV green flag at 6:00. This week’s special attraction will be Kid’s Barrel Races at intermission.

 

“We’re looking to carry the momentum of our strong season opener through every event of the season,” said Peterborough Speedway track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse. “Our goal for every show is to help Central Ontario race fans make memories for life.”

Looking ahead to Saturday, May 30th Peterborough Speedway will host a program featuring Bone Stock, Mini Stock, Super Stock and Late Model action, plus the first of this year’s visits from the Outlaw Midgets. Kid’s rides will be the weekly intermission feature.
