Kicking Off the 33rd B&G Towing & Recovery Autumn Colours Classic

As much a fall tradition as Hallowe’en or Thanksgiving, Peterborough Speedway’s promotional team welcomed fans and racers to a 3-day festival of speed known as the Autumn Colours Classic.

Opening night for this year’s edition of the Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing saw qualifying events for the GEN3 Electrical SportsMods hit the track, with championship contenders John Baker Jr. and Chad Strawn each taking a pair of checkered flags. Josh Davenport swept both rounds of KOD Disposal Ontario Bandolero 15-lap semi features.

The preliminary rounds of SwitchTire Mini Stock qualifying went to Christen Lavalle, Matt Young, Roland Goodfellow and Matt McGrath.

After post race inspection, the No. 7 of Matt Young was disqualified for too much right-rear camber. The 3rd Mini Stock heat race winner – Roland Goodfellow – was disqualified for being a half inch too low.

Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock heat race winners during the first round of Autumn Colours Classic qualifying were Phil Givens, Spencer Riddell, Kayden Wright and Jordan Wilms. Shawn Chenoweth and Coltin Everingham started their 2026 charge with Super Stock wins.

Ethan Thompson and Glenn Morris brought the GEN3 Electrical SportsMods, by OMRS field to the line for a 25-lap headliner that would determine the group’s 2026 championship. An early race yellow flag slowed the pace, with Brad Stevenson taking the lead on the restart. Morris, Garrett Yake and championship hopeful Chad Strawn followed the leader over the next laps. Another yellow flag – for an incident on the frontstretch – brought the pack back together and helped pave the way for Stevenson’s race win. His 3rd place finish, combined with John Baker Jr.’s engine woes saw Strawn crowned the GEN3 Electrical SportsMods champion.

With Dawson Drimmie and Mackenzie Milwain on the front row, Trailers Plus Ontario Legend Car Series teams hit the track to complete an event that had been postponed by rain on August 8th. The lead duo broke away from the pack in a headline event that was slowed by just a single yellow flag near the halfway mark. There was plenty of action throughout the pack, with Drimmie and Milwain enjoying the view from their front row seats. Dawson Drimmie – a former series champion – took the win, with Milwain, Cole McFadden and championship contenders Keaton Pipe and Adam Cuthbertson completing the top 5.

All finishing positions are unofficial and subject to post race inspection and scoring review.

This year’s edition of the B&G Towing and Recovery Autumn Colours Classic continues Saturday, October 10th with the 2nd round of qualifying and time trials for the Late Model Electric City 167 with cars on the track at 3:30.
