Peterborough’s Autumn Colours Classic Returns for the 29th Edition in 2022
Official branding may be different but some of the biggest events in motorsports history have become widely known by just a single word. Daytona, Indy, Monaco and Knoxville to name a few. Central Ontario race fans have a show that fits into that same category.
Colours.
After being sidelined by the Global Pandemic in 2020, Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic bounced-back stronger than ever for its 28th running. Even with inclement weather delaying the Saturday line-up, fans still saw the equivalent of 3 weeks worth of racing in a single weekend. Track owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse says Autumn Colours is more than a race. It is an event.
“2022 will mark our 55th consecutive season of weekly racing at Peterborough Speedway and we’re continuing to work on all aspects of the season-ending spectacular to build and an improve the program over the years to come,” Josiasse said. “Whether its their 1st visit or the 101st, everyone who comes through the gate deserves the best experience we can provide. Our staff is committed to the satisfaction of every fan, race team and driver we see.”
Josiasse says the promotional team hit on a winning formula for the 2021 edition of Autumn Colours. A new rule package for the Electric City 167 created a level playing field for the Limited Late and Pro Late Model teams and added extra cash for the Limited Late runners that saw Brandt Graham pocket a $1000 bonus for his 6th place finish.
The Thursday night pit party, with live music and the driver barbecue – presented by KOD Disposal and Peterborough Speedway – proved to be a popular addition and will return. Also continuing in 2022 will be the Friday night post-race party that has become a tradition and talks are already underway to have G-Force Lite air Sunday’s feature events under tape delay presentation.
“I can’t imagine there being a Peterborough Speedway schedule without having the Autumn Colours Classic as part of it,” Josiasse continued. “We’ve seen generations of fans and families come through the gates on both sides of the fence to experience this season-ending event and we’re always looking for ways to make a great show even better.”
