Setting the Bar For the 2023 Season at Peterborough Speedway
Officials at Canada’s Toughest 3rd Mile Oval have been working hard to make sure Peterborough Speedway’s 2023 season is one of the best in the track’s 57 year history.
A new schedule of racing is a fresh start. An open door. A blank canvas. It’s the first chance to try something different when it comes to a raceday set-up or a new line around the track. Most importantly, opening night of the season is your first chance to showcase your team’s equipment and sponsorship partners to a new group of fans.
“We’ve made some changes behind the scenes as we head into the 2023 season,” said Peterborough Speedway owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse. “Our promotional team is looking forward to the launch of this year’s schedule. Coming up April 30th to May 7th, we’ll have racecars on display at Lindsay Square for the first time since 2019. It’ll be a great chance to see the machines before they hit the track and to pick-up a calendar of events to help plan your trips to the speedway.”
Josiasse also pointed out that there will be some fresh faces joining the newly branded Jiffy Lube Super Stock ranks this year. Gerrit Tiemersma and Miles Tyson will be part of the Peterborough Speedway family this year in their respective No. 17 and No. 49 rides. Sebright, Ontario’s Clayton Reed is excited about turning his first laps at Canada’s Toughest 3rd Mile Oval. The 41-year-old will follow in the footsteps of his father Al Reed, a multi-time Barrie Speedway track champion and will take a shot at the rookie of the year honours during the upcoming season.
The new weekly racing line-up of 16 consecutive Saturday nights of regular schedule action gets underway with the 2023 Pure Country 105 Season Opener – featuring free spectator grandstand admission – Saturday, May 20th. On the track, fans will see the home track Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, SwitchTire Mini Stock, Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck, Jiffy Lube Super Stock and KOD Disposal Late Model divisions, plus the Trailers Plus Canadian Legend Car Series.
