Dallin and DiBello to Defend Their Peterborough Speedway Point Titles

Anthony DiBello #2 (2)Race fans across Central Ontario are keeping one eye glued to the extended range weather forecast and the other on the calendar. The new campaign of action at Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval is just a couple of weeks away.

Peterborough Speedway swings open the gates for 2015 with the Country 105 Season Opener – featuring free spectator grandstand admission – Saturday, May 16th. It will be a full night of racing with the 4Fun, Mini Stock, Renegade Truck, Thunder Car, Late Model and Ontario Legend divisions; along with a Fan Appreciation Event at intermission. Track owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse says he shares everyone’s excitement about things getting underway for another year.

“We had a great time meeting with fans at our annual pre-season events,” said Josiasse. “Whether at Motorama, the Kawartha Home, Cottage and Country Show or our recent display at the Lindsay Square Shopping Mall, people are anxious to get back to the track. Drivers and teams in every division are chomping at the bit to get things underway.”

Josiasse says that while a couple of last year’s track champions – 4Fun titleholder Willow Barberstock and Mini Stock victor Ryan Babin – won’t be back to defend their crowns, the 2014 Renegade Truck and Thunder Car high point drivers will look to retain their position at the top of the point standings.

After dominating the pick-up truck division last year, Jack Dallin may face the biggest challenge to back-to-back crowns from a familiar face, as his brother Jordan will join the field. Focusing his attention on winning the point race paid off for Anthony DiBello, as the Lindsay, Ontario driver earned the top spot by just a single point once the division’s final standings were tallied. DiBello’s 2015 Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car machine was featured at Lindsay Square. Although his weekly racing plans are still unconfirmed, Earl Ireland Auto Sales Late Model and Autumn Colours Classic champion Ryan Kimball will return to the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City as crew chief for OSCAAR Super Late Model driver Sean Grossman.

The first green flag of 2015 is coming up fast, with the Country 105 Season Opener – featuring free spectator grandstand admission – Saturday, May 16th at Peterborough Speedway. Pit gates open at 1:00, spectator areas at 3:00 and racing begins at 5:00.
