For the 2^nd time this year, Central Ontario race fans were treated to a great night of home track action for $ 4.00 with another Double Toonie/Fan Appreciation Night – Saturday, June 27^th – at Peterborough Speedway.

First of the main events was a 20-lap headliner for the SwitchTire Mini Stocks that saw Aundrea Lusk and Cory Horne on the front row. Luck took off to an early lead and was running some strong laps at the front of the field, with some intense battles going on in her rear-view mirror. The Lavalle Brothers – John and Christen – were looking to take over the lead, but Lusk was equal to the challenge. It wasn’t until Doug Butler came along near halfway that the driver of the No. 17 knew she’d have a fight on her hands. Butler – who had been missing since opening night – grabbed the lead with less than a handful of laps to go to take the win. John and Christen Lavalle were next, with Tegan Stanley and Cameron McGlashan completing the top 5 in the caution free feature.

On the raceday line-up for the 2^nd time in as many weeks, the Nadeau’s Collision Service Junior Late Models rolled from the staging area with Troy Purvis and Owen Ephgrave showing the way. Purvis was the early race leader, with Lucas Finnegan following along into 2^nd. Brayden Cappuccitti and Ephgrave were next in the running order. Lapped traffic came into play with 3 laps complete, as Finnegan took the lead a pair of circuits later. Finnegan wheeled the No. 13 to the checkered flag in a relief role, followed by Cappuccitti, Ephgrave, Brody Coates and Lyla Sikma.

With this week’s Late Model ‘A’ main slated for 25 laps, Kelly Balson and Gary Hannah brought the starting field to the Great Canadian RV green flag. With Balson taking the early lead, Ryan Kimball moved into the runner-up spot, with Dan McHattie and Gerrit Tiemersma – in his first Peterborough Speedway start of 2026 – next in line. At the halfway mark, the top runners were locked in a 4-car breakaway, with Jacob Mercer joining the fight with 5 laps to go. Balson would take the win, over Kimball, McHattie, Tiemersma and Mercer in the caution-free Late Model feature tilt.

With 25 laps to settle the score, the home track Super Stock runners hit the track with Miles Tyson and Coltin Everingham leading the way. Everingham would roll to a stop in the 4^th turn on the parade lap and was finished for the night. Tyson took the race lead at the drop of the green flag and had Herb Walters, Clayton Reed, Dan Archibald and Bailey Jacobs on his tail in the early stages. Jacobs – who has been strong in his Peterborough Speedway return – started deep in the pack and was moving to the front. While the No. 49 of Tyson was turning-in a dominating performance by leading every lap, Jacobs got as close as 2^nd in the caution-free feature. Paul Boundy, Walters and Reed completed the top 5.

Trailers Plus Ontario Legend Car Series teams, presented by Nadeau’s Collision Service wrapped up the night’s main event action with a 25 lapper that had Mitch Wright and Caleb Drimmie on the front row. Making his return to the Central Ontario venue, Wright would take the race lead on a night where yellow flags were frequent. As early the first lap, the pace was slowed because of on-track incidents. With the cars of Wright and Parker Traves, Dawson Drimmie and Keaton Pipe, Caleb Drimmie and Wes Cuthbertson running together, an issue on the frontstretch with 11 laps on the scoreboard slowed the pace. Traves took the lead from Wright on the restart and held on for the win with the main event shortened to 23 laps due to time constraints. Dawson Drimmie was 2^nd, with Wright, Caleb Drimmie and Pipe completing the top 5.

Qualifying events started the night, with Ontario Legend Car wins for Keaton Pipe, Mitch Wright, Parker Traves and Caleb Drimmie. Rob Crick and Doug Butler had Mini Stock checkered flags, while Lucas Finnegan – subbing for Avery Kirkpatrick – and Brody Coates had Junior Late Model wins. Reigning track champion Ryan Kimball and Dan McHattie split the Late Model heat races. Coltin Everingham and former 2-time track champion Bailey Jacobs shared Super Stock preliminary event wins.

Technical notes: After taking the checkered flag in the opening SwitchTire Mini Stock heat race, the No. 84 of Rob Crick was found to be too light in post race tech. The No. 9 Junior Late Model of Knox Richardson was disqualified for illegal use of radio communication. Following the first Super Stock heat, the No. 07 of Dan Archibald was disqualified for being too low. After leading most of the race from a front row starting spot and taking the checkered flag in the runner-up position, the No. 17 Mini Stock of Aundrea Lusk was disqualified for being under weight in post-race inspection.

All finishing positions are unofficial and subject to scoring review and post race inspection.

Bullring bullet points: The planned 5:00 start time was delayed while track staff attended to a medical emergency in the pit area. Peterborough Speedway management and officials than drivers and fans for their patience while waiting for provincial rescue officials to arrive on site…Cole McFadden took a turn in the No. 9 Ontario Legend Car Series ride…Thanks to Tyler Liscum of Overkill Enterprises who added an extra $300 to each feature winner’s payday…An anonymous race fan collected more than $1400 in the night’s Kinsmen Club 50/50 draw…Peterborough Speedway racers, staff and track officials joined with the provincial motorsports community in expressing condolences to the family of racer, fabricator and Innovator Stephane Lafrance who passed away earlier in the week.

Weekly home track action continues Saturday, July 4^th with the home track Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck and Super Stock divisions, plus the Trailers Plus Ontario Legend Car and KOD Disposal Ontario Bandolero Series, with timed King of the Hill spectator laps as the intermission feature. Grandstand gates open at 5:00, with racing at 6:00.
