Saturday Night Kick-Off Opens 2026 Peterborough Speedway Season

It’ll be time to say a long overdue ‘hello’ to some close, personal racing friends.

New Country KX 105 presents the 2026 season opener – with free spectator grandstand admission – Saturday, May 16th at Peterborough Speedway. Catch all the thrills and excitement of the new schedule launch as weekly short track action returns to Central Ontario with the local Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, SwitchTire Mini Stock, Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck, Super Stock and Late Model classes, plus the Trailers Plus Ontario Legend Car Series.

For the first time in the track’s close to 60-year history, Peterborough Speedway officials have scheduled a make-up date for the annual opening night. In the case of inclement weather, the entire program will be moved to Sunday, May 17th. An official announcement – including starting times – will be posted on the track website and through the venue’s social media pages and platforms.

“It is an option we hope we don’t have to use, but since the kick-off of a new season is so popular with our fans, racers and staff we wanted to have a back-up plan,” said Peterborough Speedway owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse. “We’re always concerned about the forecast and with the make-up date available to us and part of the Victoria Day long weekend, it just made good sense.”

The first marquee event of 2026 is a double header for the APC United Late Model Series, presented by Castrol and the Dayco Super Stocks, Saturday, June 13th. For the first time in Peterborough Speedway history, the APC event will be 175 laps, while local Late Model runners and racers in the companion Super Stock 50 lapper will earn home track points toward their respective championships. Also on the docket for the spotlight date, presented by KOD Disposal will be the local Mini Stocks, Ontario Legend Car and Ontario Bandolero Series teams.

Jake Sheridan won the Peterborough Speedway Late Model event in 2025, with Carson Nagy claiming the Super Stock win. Josh Stade and Lane Zardo were last year’s respective tour champions. Stade opened this year’s Late Model chase with a Saturday, May 9th win at Delaware. Darrell Lake had his first career Dayco Super Stock Series win.

Peterborough Speedway’s annual schedule includes a variety of special events to complement the venue’s weekly divisions. Next on the agenda will be the return of the OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Models, with the home track Mini Stock, Late Model and Junior Late Models. The Mid Season Bash – presented by New Country KX 105 – Saturday, July 11th will see racing start at 6:00. JR Fitzpatrick is the most recent Peterborough Speedway Outlaw Super Late Model winner.
