Shawn Murray’s 2026 Renegade Truck Season is Coming Up Fast
A new schedule of home track racing will return to Central Ontario in less than a month and the Peterborough Speedway promotional team is ready to wave the first green flag of the year. New Country KX 105 presents the 2026 season opener – with free spectator grandstand admission – Saturday, May 16th.
After recording a 3rd place finish in last year’s championship chase – his best showing since his career started in 2019 – Shawn Murray is excited to get his No. 55 Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck ride back into action. The 48-year-old from Buckhorn, Ontario, who has a resume that includes time as a Crew Chief in CASCAR, is a ‘car guy’ and works as a mechanic at Kawartha Autobahn Repair Service, a shop specializing classic and European cars and everything in between.
“Our crew – my wife Stephanie, daughters Shelby and Samantha – along with Mallory Murray and Sam Matthews – has been working hard to get things ready for the new season,” according to Shawn Murray. “It was great to come home 3rd in the overall standings. We’re going to do everything we can to carry that momentum into the season opener and keep the ball rolling throughout the year.”
Murray says he is pleased to have Canadiana Cabinets, Kawartha Autobahn Repair Service, Samantha Murray RMT, Kustom Detail and Restoration, Cavan Chiropractic and Clarke Motorsports Communications support the team’s efforts and encourages family members, friends and fans to follow their program during the season.
Counting the Saturday, May 16th 2026 schedule kickoff, the Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck division will have 10 dates during the upcoming regular season line-up. A pair of those – Saturday, July 4th and August 15th – will be Double Toonie/Fan Appreciation Nights, with $ 4.00 spectator grandstand admission.
