Brad Stevenson Takes GEN-3 Electrical OMRS SportsMods Win

Saturday, August 30th, teams with the GEN-3 Electrical OMRS SportsMods paid tribute to the memory of a fallen friend with the Robert Maebrae Memorial Classic at Peterborough Speedway.

Brad Stevenson and Rick Warnes were on the front row as the field came to the green flag for the night’s 20 lap headline event. Even though he’d started from the preferred groove, Stevenson’s No. 77 ride packed plenty of power from the get-go as took the early race lead and held his challengers at bey.

At the other end of the starting grid, Chad Strawn had mounted a charge of his own and was marching through traffic to work his way to 4th and eventually a top 3 spot in the running order. After running without a caution for most of the show, a yellow flag with 19 laps completed brought the field back together for a green, white checkered flag showdown to decide the winner.

Strawn moved into 2nd position on the restart and did everything he could to put his No. 35 machine into the Peterborough Speedway victory lane for the 3rd time in as many events at the popular Central Ontario. Try as he might, it wasn’t to be as Brad Stevenson scored the flag-to-flag win. John Baker Jr. was 3rd, with Garrett Yake, Rick Warnes, Ethan Thompson and Glenn Morris completing the running order.

GEN-3 Electrical OMRS SportsMods notebook: Robert Maebrae passed away in November of 2022. His life was celebrated at the track by his OMRS competitors, friends and immediate family members, including his wife Tanis and daughter Nancy. Bria was unable to attend.

Qualifying events were won by Brad Stevenson and John Baker Jr…After coming into the event as the group’s point leader, Glenn Morris had a short night in his No. 77m ride. He experienced front issues and couldn’t finish the feature event…The next date on the GEN-3 Electrical OMRS SportsMods schedule will be Friday, October 10th at Peterborough Speedway as part of the 32nd annual B & G Towing & Recovery Autumn Colours Classic.
