Weekly Action Sets the Saturday Night Stage at Peterborough Speedway

Special events may add to a track’s weekly event, but with family, friends and neighbours in the grandstands, it’s the hometown racing divisions that drive the show.

During the 2023 season, Peterborough Speedway’s local runners delivered a red-carpet worthy performance on a weekly basis at the popular venue on Mount Pleasant Road. KOD Disposal Late Model teams saw more than 20 different drivers start at least one main event, with Norwood, Ontario racer Ryan Kimball’s season championship decided by only a 55-point margin over Daniel Montanari. Dan McHattie, Jacob Mercer and James Horner rounded-out the top-5 finishers.

In the Jiffy Lube Super Stock pack, the numbers were just as strong, with 15 players signing-in pit-side and the overall title won by Miles Tyson come down to a slight 4-point gap between the top 2 finishers that wasn’t confirmed until a mid-race pass on the final night of the regular season. Mark Gordon, Brandon Feeney, Paul Boundy and Donovan Price completed the top 5 spots in the standings. Track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says these are the kind of numbers that put people in the seats.

“From the opening night of the annual schedule to the final checkered flag of the regular season we’ve earned a reputation for putting on a top-shelf program week-after-week,” explained J.P. Josiasse. “With close to 60 years’ worth of Saturday night racing experience to draw from, our team is committed to giving the fans the best value for their family motorsports investment.”
