Brandt Graham Scores a 1st Career Peterborough Speedway Late Model Win

On the hometown short tracks or national super speedways, the motorsports community loves the excitement that comes with seeing a first-time race winner take the checkered flag.

While his racing focus over the last couple of seasons has been as part of a 2-car Dirt Late Model program with his father Craig, Brandt Graham has still managed to add some extracurricular racing to his schedule. Saturday, July 29th the 25-year-old from Orono, Ontario made the most of his latest asphalt start with his first career Late Model feature event win at Peterborough Speedway.

After logging a 2nd place finish in his first qualifying event and a win in the final preliminary round, the driver of the No. 14 machine started the night’s 25-lap from the pole position. The dozen cars in the starting line-up all had their sights set on the checkered flag, but Brandt Graham was in charge of the field from the drop of the green flag.

The pack started working through some slower traffic at the back of the pack with about 10 circuits complete. A few laps later, the race’s only caution flag – for an issue in the 4th turn – brought everyone back together. With some of the best in the business hot on his tail, Graham ran some consistent laps over the closing stages and found his way to the winner’s circle.

“It’s always great to race close to home and picking-up the win makes it even better,” said Brandt Graham. “Being able to celebrate my first career Late Model win with so many family members, friends and supporters in victory lane was an amazing experience.”

Coming-up, the father and son duo will return to action with the RUSH Late Model tour with weekend events at Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway and Eriez Speedway – Saturday, August 5th and Sunday, August 6th – before a Tuesday, August 8th date at Woodhull Speedway.
