All it takes is a check of last year’s final standings to see the power of the Jiffy Lube Mini Stock field at Peterborough Speedway. With close to 40 different drivers scoring points and the top 5 spots in the running order decided by just over 65 markers, the class turned heads with fans on both sides of the fence and made headlines throughout the season.

Multi-time track champion Ryan Oosterholt continued his strong effort in the class, with more feature wins added to his resume and a 5^th place point finish in the final running order. Jeremy Kelly – a former Bone Stock titleholder – made a smooth transition to his new class with a couple of trips to victory lane and earned the rookie of the year and best appearing car honours, on the way to a 4^th place showing.

Only a single marker made the difference in a classic tug-of-war for 3^rd and 2^nd spot that was highlighted by a pair of the venue’s best-known racing families. Neil Hannah – whose father Jack is an Autumn Colours Classic Mini Stock winner and brother Brandon also competed in the division – was 3^rd, while Ember Junkin – whose mother and brother have also run in the class – scored her first career feature win in 2019, on the way to a runner-up point finish.

“Our weekly Mini Stock field is one of the best in the province,” said Peterborough Speedway owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse. “We’re very fortunate to be blessed with a potent combination of quality and quantity. The team at Jiffy Lube provides some strong support, while the drivers thrill our crowds with some amazing racing week after week.”

Even though he’s raced in other divisions, Nolan Gould keeps coming back to the Mini Stocks. Since joining forces with former Peterborough Speedway track champion Ryan Babin and the Farm Bro team at the start of the 2018 season, Gould has accumulated some impressive stats. The 28-year-old from Almonte, Ontario has 7 main event wins to his credit and earned the 2019 division title at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road.

Bullring bullet points: As in past years, Peterborough Speedway will be part of several promotional events leading-up to the Saturday, May 16^th opening green flag. First on that list will be the Toronto Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Expo – March 13^th to 15^th – at the International Centre. Fans can talk to representatives from the track and pick-up a copy of the 2020 event schedule.
