Cuthbertson and Traves Share Peterborough Speedway Legend Car Wins
23 Trailers Plus Ontario Legend Car Series teams – led by front row starters Matt Haufe and Dawson Drimmie – came to the line for a 25-lap headliner, presented by Kevin Ryan Automotive that had been held over from a Saturday, July 4th rainout.
Haufe – a former champion on both sides of the border – grabbed the early race lead, with fellow inside line starters Adam Cuthbertson and Keaton Pipe chasing the leader for the first handful of circuits. Cole McFadden and Parker Traves fought for 3rd on the restart after an early race yellow flag, with the leaders catching the tail-end of the pack with a baker’s dozen of laps showing on the scoreboard.
Things took a scary turn with a red flag for an incident in the 2nd turn after a flip involving Wes Cuthbertson. The driver was able to get out of the car under his own power and was checked by track personnel and released. His No. 97 ride was heavily damaged and is likely through for the season.
Haufe and Traves – who has held the hot hand at Peterborough this summer – were battling for the lead when a late race yellow flag created a 5-lap shootout. A handful of teams were in contention for the win when Adam Cuthbertson stole the win from Matt Haufe with a last lap pass. Haufe, Traves, Caleb Drimmie and Mackenzie Milwain completed the top 5.
The 2nd round of the night – backed by Andy the Mechanic – saw heavyweights Parker Traves and Matt Haufe showing the way. The lead duo was joined by Adam Cuthbertson, Mackenzie Milwain and Caleb Drimmie as the front running quintet started putting backmarkers a lap down with just over a handful of laps complete.
An issue on the backstretch with 13 laps on the scoreboard saw Traves, Haufe and Cuthbertson recruit Cole McFadden and Keaton Pipe for the top 5 on the restart. A pair of yellow flags – on lap 16 and lap 21 – led to another late race trophy dash with less than a handful of laps remaining to settle the score.
Parker Traves led the way to the checkered flag for his 3rd win in 4 Peterborough Speedway starts. Matt Haufe, Adam Cuthbertson, Keaton Pipe and Cole McFadden rounded out the top 5.
Next action on the group’s 2026 schedule will be back-to-back nights Saturday and Sunday, August 1st and 2nd at Sauble Speedway. The series will return to Peterborough Speedway Saturday, August 8th and again Saturday, August 22nd.
