Parker Traves Goes 2-4-2 With Peterborough Speedway Ontario Legend Car Wins
An abundance of caution flags may have made it difficult to find a rhythm, but that wouldn’t keep Parker Traves from picking up his 2nd straight Ontario Legend Car Series win – Saturday, June 27th – at Peterborough Speedway.
Making his first home track start of the season, Mitch Wright and Caleb Drimmie brought the field of close to 20 starters to the green flag. As quickly as the race was started, it was slowed by a yellow flag for an incident on the front stretch. Back under race conditions, another caution – this time for a 1st turn issue – brought the pack back together.
Wright maintained the lead on the restart, with Parker Traves on his bumper. Dawson Drimmie and Keaton Pipe, along with Cale Drimmie and Wes Cuthbertson were locked into their own battles to claim the lead from Wright, who was in his maiden voyage at the controls of the JDC Motorsports No. 69 machine.
The restart following a front stretch issue with 11 laps showing on the lap counter was the break Traves and his No. 08 needed to take control of the headline event. The front runners started to put back markers a lap down with about 10 laps remaining, before another yellow flag covered the field for the final showdown.
The advantage Parker Traves had built-up survived a 3rd turn caution that gave his challengers a last charge at the leader for the restart. With time constraints taking over, track and Legend Car Series officials agreed that the next flag would end the race. A final yellow flag with 23 laps complete saw Parker Traves clinch the win. Dawson Drimmie, Mitch Wright, Caleb Drimmie and Keaton Pipe rounded out the top 5.
Gibson Baker, Wes Cuthbertson, Matt Thompson, Rob Eggleton, John Milwain, Joshua Milwain, Nathan Huffman, Cole McFadden, Andy Toms, Andrew McFadden, Chris Milwain, Haley McNicol, MacKenzie Milwain and Mark Griffin complete the running order.
