From the moment Peterborough Speedway’s annual event calendar hits the streets, provincial motorsports enthusiasts start talking about the Autumn Colours Classic, presented by Lucas Oil Products. This year’s edition of the event that has been dubbed as the Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing is set to take the green flag October 7th, 8th and 9th at Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval.

For the first time in series history, the Trailers Plus INEX Ontario Legends will chase the checkered flag every racer wants on their resume. Qualifying action for the crowd favourite field will roll from the staging area as part of the Saturday, October 8th schedule. Teams will fight it out in a 40 lap ‘A’ main – that will solidify the final positions in the 2016 point standings – during the Sunday, October 9th agenda. Tour director Steve Peake says every driver in the roster has marked this as their ‘must win’ show.

“We’ve never been part of this season-ending spectacular, our teams will be leaving no stone unturned,” admitted Peake. “In addition to the bunch who’ve been running with us at every event throughout the year, I expect there’ll be some invaders trying to fight their way into the winner’s circle and be the first ever champion for this division. The Autumn Colours Classic has a very steeped history and the Trailers Plus INEX Ontario Legends Series is thrilled to be part of this year’s program.”

While 3-time series champion Nicholas Ledson has already declared himself to be mathematically eliminated from this year’s title fight, a number of top dogs remain in the hunt for the prize. Heading into the next event on the schedule – Saturday, September 24th – at Sunset Speedway, Matt Haufe occupies the top spot in the season point standings, with a 5-point advantage over Cole Ledson. Terry McClelland sits 3rd, with Cole McFadden 4th and Nick Ledson 5th.

Peterborough Speedway’s 24th Annual Autumn Colours Classic – presented by Lucas Oil Products – October 7th, 8th and 9th features nearly a dozen different racing divisions over an action-packed weekend.
