Action for the month of August wrapped-up with the GEN3 Electrical SportsMods Robert Maebrae Memorial Classic to highlight the second to last date of the 2026 regular season schedule – Saturday, August 19^th – at Peterborough Speedway.

Troy Purvis and Lyla Sikma led the way for the Nadeau’s Collision Service Junior Late Model headliner, with a 15-lap agenda or 20-minute window for completion. Purvis and Brayden Cappuccitti broke away from the pack, with Cappuccitti taking the early race lead. The pace was slowed for a lap 4 red flag incident the backstretch that saw the No. 9 of Knox Richardson hit the wall. The young racer was checked and released by track emergency staff and rejoined the race at the back of the pack. Another red flag stopped the race for an issue in the 2^nd turn, with 5 laps on the scoreboard. Again, the involved racers were able to get back into the race. Purvis held on and took the win, with Dylan Ephgrave, Brody Coates, Dylan Ephgrave and Avery Kirkpatrick completing the top 5.

30 laps of action were on the table as the Kelly Balson and Dan McHattie brought the Late Model field to the popular Central Ontario oval. The lead duo had broken away from the 3^rd place car with 5 circuits complete, as McHattie started looking to the inside line for a way around the No. B10 of Balson. Reigning track champion Ryan Kimball took over 3^rd spot with 8 laps complete, with McHattie taking the race lead with a 3^rd of the race distance in the record books. Slower traffic became an issue, as the leaders started lapping backmarkers near the halfway mark. A yellow flag for a backstretch issue with 16 laps complete slowed the pace and brought a 6-car pack of McHattie, Kimball, Balson, Mitch Wright, Jacob Mercer and former OMRS champion Alex Cuzzilla into contention for the race win. McHattie maintained the lead after a late race red flag and scored the win. Kimball, Balson, Mercer and Wright followed the current point leader across the striple.

Front row starters Adam Chatten and Scott Jacobs as the 20-lap Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck rolled from the staging area. Jacobs took the early race lead, with Howie Crowe sliding into 2^nd from his starting spot inside the 2^nd row. A yellow flag for an incident on the backstretch slowed the pace, but also saw Kyle Gordon move into the runner-up spot. Working on the outside line, he was able to take the lead from Jacobs and hang on for the win. Isiah Switzer, Stacy Switzer and Chatten followed Gordon and Jacobs across the line.

Coming to the line nearly 20 cars strong, Carol Dawson and Rob Crick lead the way for the 20-lap SwitchTire Mini Stock headliner. Kyle Abbott took the early race lead with 3 laps complete and surrendered the spot to Nolan Gould a couple of laps later. Current championship point leader John Lavalle put the No. 6 car into second spot with 8 laps on the scoreboard, with the front runners catching slower traffic just past the halfway mark. Making his first start of the year, Gould scored the main event win. Lavalle, Dave Bragg, Coleridge Phinnemore were next across the line.

Led by front row starters Glenn Morris and Ethan Thompson, close to a dozen GEN3 Electrical SportsMods, presented by OMRS came to the green flag in the 25-lap Robert Maebrae Memorial Classic. The inside line of the popular Central Ontario oval was the quick way around early in the headline event, with Morris – followed by Garrett Yake and Chad Strawn – leading the way. Strawn wheeled his No. 35 ride into the runner-up spot with the 3 laps on the scoreboard and took the race lead, with John Baker Jr. – who had started 7th – moving into 2nd with 6 circuits complete. With Strawn still in front, Baker Jr. saw an opening as the pack worked through traffic. Coming off the 4th turn, the driver of the No. 63 machine used a slower car as pick and took control of the race with just over a handful of laps remaining. 4 laps later, JBJ’s race came to an end in a cloud of smoke as the engine erupted, handing the lead and the race win back to Chad Strawn. Garrett Yake, Rick Warnes, Kyle Gordon and Glenn Morris completed the top 5.

The night’s program got rolling with GEN3 Electrical SportsMods qualifying heat wins from Chad Strawn, Ethan Thompson, Rick Warnes and Glenn Morris. Owen Ephgrave and Kaiden Beatty had Junior Late Model preliminary round checkered flag, with Dan McHattie and Ryan Kimball sharing Late Model heat race wins. Renegade Truck qualifiers were split between Howie Crowe and Kyle Gordon. Dave Bragg and Chris Cunnington each had a Mini Stock heat race win.

All finishing positions are unofficial and subject to scoring review and post race inspection.

Bullring bullet points: Bone Stock and Mini Stock runner Tegan Stanley was behind the wheel of the No. 44 Late Model for his first start in the class, while Norm Stoddard returned to action in the No.09 machine…Almonte, Ontario’s Nolan Gould was on hand for his first Mini Stock of the year in a machine dubbed ‘The Ghost Car’ by track staff because of a lack of sponsor graphics and white numbers on a white background…It was a tough break for Kaiden Beatty. After being scheduled to start on the outside of the front row in the Junior Late Model feature, the No. 86k machine suffered a mechanical issue before the green flag…The night’s Kinsmen Club 50/50 winner was Cindy Knowlan, who pocketed $ 1,000.

Regular season racing wraps up Saturday, September 5^th with the Championship Clash, presented by APC Auto Parts Centres. 2026 titles for the home track Bone Stock, Mini Stock, Renegade Truck, Super Stock, Late Model and Junior Late Model divisions will be clinched. Grandstands open at 3:00, with racing at 4:00.
