Setting the Stage for the 30th Annual APC Autumn Colours Classic

Drivers and teams in a handful of different divisions took to Canada’s Toughest 3rd Mile Oval, looking to take the first step toward locking-up a starting spot in the 30th annual APC Autumn Colours Classic, presented by Toronto Motorama.

Action got underway – Friday, October 6th – with a qualifying heat race win by reigning Ontario Modifieds Racing Series champion Alex Cuzzilla, while invader Josh Hicks from Hampton, Georgia, hometown favourite Dawson Drimmie, Wes Cuthbertson and Zach Latimer shared checkered flags in the opening round of qualifying for the first of a pair of 30-lap features for the Canadian Legend Car Series.

Chandler Bos, Doug Butler and Shawn Taylor logged SwitchTire Mini Stock qualifying heat wins, while Lane Zardo and Herb Walters scored checkered flags in the opening rounds of Jiffy Lube Super Stock qualifying. Chris Allard, Phil Givens and Connor Ellis had Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock victories.

With Rick Warnes and Randy Hollingsworth on the front row, the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series rolled to the line to wrap-up the season with a 25-lap feature event. By just taking the green flag in the qualifying heat, John Baker Jr. earned the year’s title, but the main event was a history-making experience for Warnes who claimed the first feature event win of a racing career that began in the early 1980’s. The driver of the No. 90 machine led from green flag to checkered to score the win. Fan favourite ‘JBJ’ was next across the line, with Tyler Bouillon, Alex Cuzzilla and Shane Pollock completing the top 5.

Chandler Bos claimed victory in the Mini Stock Non-Winners event, while Daniel Hawn took the same honours in the 15-lap Super Stock race. Jason Keen and Bryan Batty had the OSCAAR Modified wins, with Trevor Thompson, AJ Emms and Tyler Hawn taking heat race wins in the first round of OSCAAR Hot Rod qualifying.
