29th Lucas Oil Autumn Colours Classic Opens With a Night of Qualifying
In late season, marquee racing events half the battle is getting into the show. With prestige and bragging rights on the line, Peterborough Speedway kicked-off the 29th edition of the Lucas Oil Autumn Colours Classic – Friday, October 7th – with a night of preliminary events to help teams qualify for starting spots in the weekend’s main events.
The night’s first order of business was a pair of Trailers Plus Canadian Legend Car Series qualifiers, with Kenny McNicol Jr. and Jordan Latimer taking the wins. Tom Walters scored a pair of OSCAAR Hot Rod heat wins, with the others going to A.J. Emms, Paul Senior, Tyler Hawn and Steve Book. Chandler Bos, Josh Bullen, Dave Watchorn and Tom Eckenswiller picked-up the Jiffy Lube Mini Stock preliminary checkered flags.
Lane Zardo and Todd Davenport shared the opening rounds of KOD Disposal Super Stock qualifying, with Phil Givens, David Rockwood and Spencer Riddell each taking a Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock heat. Caleb Drimmie was the Canadian Legend Car non-winner’s special event victor, with Dustyn Mombourquette taking the APC Auto Parts Young Guns Mini Stock feature, while Cayden Lapcevich captured the Super Stock win for racers 24 or younger.
Action continues Saturday, October 8th with second round qualifying for the Mini Stock, Super Stock and Bone Stock teams. OSCAAR Modifieds will run their first heats of the weekend, with Late Model time trials for the annual Electric City 167. Outlaw Midgets, Junior Late Models and Pro Sprints will run their heats and features. Grandstands open at 2:00, with the first green flag at 3:30.
First time 2022 visitors are reminded that Peterborough Speedway insurance regulations require a completed Speed Waiver for anyone entering the pit area. Fans are reminded that with the exception of the 4th turn grandstands, there is no smoking permitted in the spectator areas. Any form of cannabis use is prohibited on speedway property.
