Home Track Regulars Chase the Autumn Colours Classic Prize

With a checkered flag, one of a kind hand-crafted trophy and bragging rights on the line, Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic draws the best of the best from every corner of the province, with a strong group of home track Saturday night regulars chasing the big prize.

With his first career feature win during the 2021 Championship Clash, it’s easy to see why Steve Powell likes the sport’s bigger races. The 46-year-old – who now makes his home in Marmora – is looking forward to his next start in the Electric City 167 at the Autumn Colours Classic. Powell says he’s gone back to a tried-and-true shock set-up on his No. 72 Late Model as he heads into the marquee event at Canada’s Toughest 3rd Mile Oval.

Fresh from recording a 10th place finish in the final Mini Stock standings, Carol Dawson is ready to make her next start in Central Ontario’s premier short track racing event. The driver of the No. 38 machine – who goes by the nickname of ‘Duckie’ – started 28th and finished 14th in her debut last season. Heading-up to the green flag, the driver says her car owner and crew have been experimenting with the car’s spring rates to help the car turn better.

After failing to advance to the feature event through the ‘B’ main in 2021, Victoria McLenon will be back again for another kick at the can. Her No. 89 Bone Stock received an updated graphics package midway through the year and she thinks it could’ve helped her secure an 8th place point finish in the final standings and is looking to convert that momentum into a solid showing in this year’s running of the Lucas Oil Autumn Colours Classic.

Former dirt track racer Jeremy Dobb concluded his 2nd season of asphalt action with a 6th place finish in Peterborough Speedway’s KOD Disposal Super Stock standings. The 42-year-old from Tweed, Ontario is ready for his second start in the track’s Lucas Oil Autumn Colours Classic. The driver of the No. 57 machine says he’s looking to build on his inaugural run in the event that saw him take the checkered flag in 13th spot.

Pit gates will open each morning at 10:00 during the Autumn Colours Classic. For the Friday, October 7th kick-off, racing starts at 6:00. First time visitors are reminded that Peterborough Speedway requires completion of the online waiver for anyone entering the pit area.
