They Came, They Saw, They Qualified for the Autumn Colours Classic

When it comes to a major event like Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic, just making the starting field is half the battle. With prestige and bragging rights on the line, the 2021 edition of the Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing kicked things into gear Friday, October 8th with the first round of qualifying.

Parker Traves and Matt Haufe picked-up Trailers Plus Ontario Legends’ heat race wins, with Shane Pollock scoring the checkered flag in a showdown for non-winners on the tour. Eric Yorke, Ryan Edwards-Kiss and Charlie Smith earned wins in the first round of Jiffy Lube Mini Stock qualifying, while Paul Boundy and Lane Zardo took the KOD Disposal Super Stock preliminary round wins. Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock victories went to Eric Stewart, Kris Khan and Kyle Neumeister.

With their qualifying events counting toward the 2021 season championships and the possibility of inclement weather affecting the 2nd round of qualifying, OSCAAR divisions put both rounds of heat races into the books on the first night of Autumn Colours. Dale Reinhardt, AJ Emms, Andy Kamrath and Jeff Walt earned Modified victories, with former Peterborough Speedway Late Model track champion Amanda Balson taking a pair of Hot Rod wins, with the others going to Jeremy McLean, Tyler Hawn, Dave Waite and Steve Book.

In the annual Young Guns races – presented by APC Auto Parts – Brock Baker picked-up the Mini Stock checkered flag, while Carson Nagy – who won the Qwick Wick Firestarter Series main event earlier this year – was the best of the Super Stockers.

All finishing positions are unofficial and subject to scoring review, as well as post race safety and technical inspection.
