Chad Strawn Collects an Ontario Modifieds Series Payback Payday
Chad Strawn has a very good memory.
The last time the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series was at Peterborough Speedway, the second generation runner had a strong run snatched away by a judgement error on a late race restart. The father of 2 from Newcastle, Ontario wasn’t about to see that happen again and picked-up the 25-lap feature win – Saturday, August 14th – at the venue known as Canada’s Toughest 3rd Mile Oval.
After scoring a pair of qualifying heat race wins, Strawn took the main event green flag in 7th place. He wasn’t long moving toward the front of the pack, taking 3rd and then the runner-up spot before the pace was slowed for the first of 2 yellow flags. Taking the lead on a restart, the No. 77 piece showed its strength for the rest of the race.
“Things got a little bunched-up during the early stages of the race and we were all looking for a spot,” admitted the driver. “Once everything sorted itself out, I was able to find a comfortable rhythm and concentrate on hitting my marks. Winning a race is never easy, but the car felt really good and it was great to wheel into victory lane on such a strong night.”
