Ontario Modifieds Racing Series Teams Roll Into Peterborough Speedway
Racers can only find so much to keep them busy behind the scenes. Preparing their equipment for battle is always important, but what they’d really want to do is race. For the 2nd time in the 2021 season, the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series, presented by GEN-3 Electrical is heading for Canada’s Toughest 3rd of Mile Oval Saturday, August 14th for a thrilling night of action. Tour spokesperson Rick Warnes says the popular open-wheeled club is ready to rock.
“Our teams are looking forward to getting back on the track and giving the fans at Peterborough Speedway a great night of entertainment,” Rick Warnes said. “From green flag to checkered the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series pulls out all the stops when it comes to delivering an edge of your seat motorsports experience.
Warnes also pointed out that while the August 14th date was originally scheduled to be the inaugural running of the Bill Pickford Memorial, in honour of the former series racer and tour official there has been a change of plans. OMRS staff has elected to run the show as planned but will hold-over the Pickford Memorial until the 2022 season to give the event the attention and prestige that it deserves.
“Bill was an excellent ambassador for our series and strong supporter of local racing,” explained Warnes. “Running the race in his memory – even if it means delaying things until next year – is the right thing to do. His family and friends deserve the chance to share this special moment at the race track.”
