Sean Kennedy Charges Into Peterborough Speedway’s Bone Stock Season

On paper, Bone Stock is Peterborough Speedway’s entry level division. On the track, the class regularly treats fans at the Central Ontario speed plant to some of the best racing anywhere in the province. With almost 50 teams battling for the championship in 2018 and the 2 most recent titleholders moving on, Sean Kennedy has to be considered as one of the leading contenders for this year’s crown.

After recording another top 5 finish in last year’s final point standings, the 23-year-old runner from Courtice, Ontario opened the new season with a qualifying heat win and a strong, 3rd place showing in the opening night’s feature. The young hot-shoe says the car felt better than it ever had before.

“I think we hit on some good set-up information and found more speed in the car than we’d had previously,” Sean Kennedy said. “It was really comfortable and worked well in traffic. There’s no feeling quite like starting the season in a piece that gets around the track like that. It gives you something to shoot for where the rest of the year is concerned.”

With the second week of the schedule rained-out and the 3rd show of the year cut short due to weather the #9 team still managed to come away with some additional notes in their set-up book. Early event temperatures were higher than they had been on opening night, with increased humidity brought-on by the impending showers coming into play. The crew experimented with tire pressures and looked to get a handle on the changing track conditions at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road.

“We’re not about to make a ton of changes on the car all at once,” admitted the former go kart racing champion. “I can get a feel for what’s happening during a practice session and then relay that information to my father and we’ll try something new. Its always a work in progress, but with such a high number of cars in the field you have to be ready for just about anything this place will throw at you.”

Like every other team in the pit area, Sean Kennedy and his crew will spend the week getting things ready for the next event – Saturday, June 8th – at Peterborough Speedway. The driver would like to thank his parents Dave & Cheryl Kennedy, his girlfriend Rachel Bolton and Andrew Massey from Corner 5 Racing for their support and encouragement throughout the many different stages of his racing career.

The team is happy to welcome Central Golf Carts to their sponsorship group that also includes Apex Auto – Oshawa, Strata Drilling Group and Sign Works.
