2019 Peterborough Speedway Schedule Has All the Bases Covered
Whatever type of racing gets your heart pumping, the 2019 calendar at the venue known as Canada’s Toughest 3rd of Mile Paved Oval will satisfy your need for speed. From the drop of the green flag at the Country 105 Season Opener – featuring free spectator grandstand admission – Saturday, May 18th, Peterborough Speedway is Central Ontario’s home for family motorsports entertainment.
“Our promotional team has worked hard throughout the off-season to put together an agenda we hope will please everyone,” said track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse. “From our weekly classes to the special guest divisions and the excitement of the season ending 27th annual running of the Autumn Colours Classic – including the second running of the Electric City 167 Late Model/Pro Late Model event – I think we’ve accomplished our goal.”
Action for the 52nd season of continuous operation gets underway with the hometown Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck, Super Stock and Late Model divisions; joined by the Trailers Plus Ontario Legends, with a fan appreciation autograph session at intermission. For the season kick-off event, pit gates open at 12:30, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 3:00 and racing at 5:00.
Looking ahead to the second week of the schedule, Saturday, May 25th’s action includes a 50 lap main event for the Mini Stocks; along with regular shows for the Bone Stock and Super Stock teams. Special guests include the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series, Ontario Pro Challenge and OSCAAR Pro Sprints. At intermission, there will be timed spectator laps around the track for King of the Hill. Grandstands open at 4:00, with racing at 5:00.
Bullring bullet points: The Summer Toonie nights – presented by Pepsi – return to the Peterborough Speedway schedule for the 2019 campaign. Saturday, June 1st, July 6th and August 17th, spectator general admission grandstand tickets are just $2.00. Each show will also feature a fan appreciation autograph session at intermission. Saturday, July 6th marks the first ever appearance for the OSCAAR Hot Rods at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road…The track will also be hosting an open practice session from 11:00 ‘til 4:00, Saturday, May 11th. Drivers looking for a last chance test and tune session before opening night will have 2 opportunities. Tuesday, May 14th and Thursday, May 16th, from 4:00 ‘til dusk each night.
