Provincial Super Stocks are Locked and Loaded for the Autumn Colours Classic
Central Ontario’s racing roads lead to the 26th annual Autumn Colours Classic – presented by Lucas Oil Products – at Peterborough Speedway. From October 5th to 7th, the venue known as Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval comes to life with close to 10 racing divisions to delight fans during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
“Our home track favourites and the travelling stars alike will be doing their homework and bringing out their best stuff, with the goal of becoming a 2018 Autumn Colours champion,” said track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse. “Throughout the different classes, fans will see the best talent available as teams in every division look to earn their time in the spotlight at the season-ending spectacular.”
After finishing 7th overall in this season’s final point standings and taking the checkered flag in 11th place during last year’s main event, Paul Boundy is looking forward to his second career Super Stock (and 3rd overall) start in the Autumn Colours Classic. The Grafton, Ontario racer says he likes the chance to give his car some legs and work through the race traffic in an extra-distance feature event.
“Our regular feature races are only 20 laps long, but we’ll be running more than twice that distance come Sunday afternoon,” said Paul Boundy, who’s family-owned roofing business has sponsored several cars over the years. “By the time we hit the track, we will have had more than a month off since the regular season finale. The crew and I have been working hard to get things ready and I’m confident in the equipment we’ll be bringing to the biggest race of the year.”
This year’s edition of the Autumn Colours Classic – presented by Lucas Oil Products – gets underway Friday, October 5th with practice and the opening round of qualifying for the Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Super Stock, Trailers Plus Ontario Legend and OSCAAR Modified divisions. Also on the bill will be the APC Auto Parts Mini Stock and Super Stock Young Guns races.
Pit gates open at 10:00, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 5:00 and the first green flag at 6:00.
