Peterborough Speedway Hosts Canadian Legend Car Asphalt Nationals Finale Saturday Night
Weekly racing excitement has its roots firmly planted in the efforts of local short track teams, but special events help build a track’s fan base and provide a proving ground for travelling racing tours. Over the next few weeks, Peterborough Speedway welcomes a variety of different divisions to the venue known as Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval. It all starts Saturday, July 14th as the finale of the Canadian Legend Car Asphalt Nationals rolls into the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City.
“The Trailers Plus Ontario Legends Series always puts on an impressive show and to have them bring an event of this stature to our stage is quite a coup,” said track owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse. “Tour officials say they’re expecting a strong car count to chase the huge payday waiting for the winner and that will be an all-around bonus for the track as well as for our fans.”
In addition to the excitement of the 35 lap finale of the Canadian Legend Car Asphalt Nationals, the Saturday, July 14th show will also include the home track Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock and Late Model classes; with timed spectator King of the Hill laps at intermission. Pit gates will open at 2:30, with the general admission grandstands unlocked at 5:00. Racing starts at 6:00.
Before the end of the summer, Peterborough Speedway fans will also see the OSCAAR Modifieds on Saturday, August 4th, the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series August 11th and the hometown debut of the Hoosier Race Tire Ontario Outlaw Super Late Model Series Saturday, August 18th. See the track web-site and social media platforms for complete schedule details and information.
The 2018 season wraps-up with the running of the 26th annual Autumn Colours Classic – presented by Lucas Oil Products – October 5th, 6th and 7th. Billed as the Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing, the 3 day spectacular draws the best of the best from tracks across the province, all with their sights set on adding an Autumn Colours championship to their resume.
