Can Am TQ Midgets Join the Action This Weekend at Peterborough Speedway
With the arrival of summer, Peterborough Speedway is ready to add another notch of excitement to the 2018 schedule. Saturday, June 23rd the Lucas Oil Can Am TQ Midgets make their annual appearance at Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval. Racing will also include the hometown the Super Stock and Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck divisions and the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series; along with a 50 lap main event for the Jiffy Lube Mini Stocks.
One of the most successful racing groups in North America, the Can Am Midget Series has been staging events in Ontario and Western New York since 1965 and has carried the Lucas Oil Products sponsorship branding since 2005. Peterborough Speedway owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse says the tour is always a popular show with fans.
“We’ve had some great racing in all of our regular divisions so far this season and this is the next step in the process,” Josiasse said. “We’re very proud of our association with the Can Am Midget Series and happy to have the group on our annual schedule. It’s a professionally run tour that always entertains our crowds with some excellent action.”
For the Saturday, June 23rd event, pit gates will open at 2:30 with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 5:00 and the night’s first green flag at 6:00. Looing ahead on the schedule to June 30th finds the Lucas Oil Products Cottage Country Dash for Cash event, with special 10 Lap Shootouts for all weekly divisions, in addition to a full night of racing for the hometown Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck, Super Stock and Late Model classes. Peterborough Speedway’s 2018 calendar wraps-up with the 26th annual edition of the Autumn Colours Classic. The 3-day spectacular – Friday, Saturday and Sunday October 5th to 7th – concludes with the inaugural running of the Electric City 167, a combined event for Late Model and Pro Late Model teams.
