Short Trackers Shine at the 22nd Annual Autumn Colours Classic

Peterborough Speedway - August 2, 2014 010 (2)Racers from every corner of the province are going through their pre-event checklists and making plans for the Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing. The 22nd annual running of the Autumn Colours Classic – presented by Lucas Oil Products – takes the green flag Friday, October 10th at Peterborough Speedway.

With car counts numbering in the 300 range and spread across close to 10 different divisions, Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval will be a hub of activity during the 3 day Thanksgiving Weekend festival of speed. Although it would be impossible to accurately predict the starting line-up in any field until the first rounds of qualifying take to the track, Peterborough Speedway owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says fans are in for an incredibly entertaining event.

“Everyone wants to say that they’re an Autumn Colours Classic champion, so there is no telling who might roll through the pit gates,” said Josiasse. “Drivers have been known to pick-up a ride in a car they’ve seen before. From Hurricane Midgets to the OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Model and Modified championship clinching events, this show has it all.”

Another Autumn Colours Classic tradition is the trend of seeing familiar faces in different places. After making his initial mark in the Thunder Car division and recording a 3rd place finish in 2012, Dave Doucette is expected to run this year’s event with the OSCAAR Super Late Models. The Angus, Ontario veteran is currently 8th in the point standings and is one of the leading contenders for the rookie of the year award.

After doing double-duty – in a Limited Late Model and Pro Late Model – in 2012 and 2013, Andy Kamrath will be running with Kamrath Mini Stockthe Mini Stock field when the Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing hits the track at Peterborough Speedway. The 25 year-old from Innisfil, Ontario – who has been racing since he was 9 – didn’t chase track points at any particular track during the regular season, but managed to pocket multiple checkered flags at Sunset Speedway – including the inaugural running of the Frequent Flyer 50 – and swept the OSCAAR promoted Mini Stock Nationals at Kawartha.

todd muskerThroughout his career, Todd Musker would ply his trade at Capital City Speedway, near Stittsville, Ontario. With the 2012 and 2013 Thunder Car track championships on his resume, he decided it was time to take the show on the road for 2014. The Carleton Place, Ontario runner made the weekly trek to Evans Mills Speedway – near Watertown, New York – to compete in what the track calls the Super Stock field. Even with a new division name to remember and some fresh competition on the track, the results were the same for the 34 year-old speedster. After finishes of 19th, 9th and 11th in the last 3 editions of the Autumn Colours Classic, Musker is hoping to improve his results once the checkered flag flies on the Thunder Car feature.
