Sunday July 1st Canada Day we had some fantastic racing, as we had one of our most important events of the year. Peterborough Speedway, Canada’s toughest 1/3 mile oval held the Lucas Oil Chase for the Colours – Pole Qualifying which is when the top two finishers of the feature race get to start in the Pole position for the 20^th Annual Autumn Colours Classic. Feature races included a 75 lap Late Model event as well as visits from the Thunder Cars as well as OSCAAR Modifieds. A 50-50 raffle brought to you by the Peterboroughs Shriner’s Club was also done and always for a great cause. Do not forget to come to Canada’s Toughest 1/3 mile oval next week as we will be hosting a $20 Car Load night and we will have some amazing racing as always as the Four Fun Twin event and the Legends will be back and better than ever.

Battlefield Equipment Four-Fun Division put on a spectacular show as Malcolm ‘Pops’ MacDonald took the victory in the first heat as be beat all the regular racers at Peterborough Speedway with amazing power. A very familiar face made it to the winner circle here at Peterborough Speedway as Chris Mulders(#99) of Farm Bro Racing started in the pole position and showed us all just why he is the fastest 4-Fun car and that he deserved the win for both heat #2 and the feature race.

Peterborough Hyundai Mini Stock – There were some very great heats to be seen as we watched a crowd favorite Darryl Fice(#44) took a heat #2 with an excellent performance. One of Peterborough’s own took heat #3 showing why he is such a feared racer around here as Tyler Junkin driving car #41.  A former Autumn colours champion Doug Bulter (#10) showed everyone why he is such an amazing racer by winning heat #4. Alex Lees opened the Mini-Stocks with an amazing victory in heat #1 and then he started off strong in the feature race and after a very tough battle with the best competition that Ontario has to offer he took the lead and held onto it into the winner circle.

Thunder Cars came out with a bang and a rumble as Howie Crowe(#28) came out on top with an incredibly strong win in heat #1 over the competition. Heat #2 had non-stop excitement from start to finish, however Nick Roth driving the #17 took the lead by the horns and never let go. A crowd favorite Kevin Gallant(#31) found his way into the winner circle after a grueling race in heat #3. Herb Walters driving the #88 put on a fantastic race and won heat #4, however that was the tip of the ice berg as he went ahead and won a well-deserved feature race as well after many cautions and what made a 40 lap race more like a 100 lap race.

Vangaurd Self-Storage Late Models saw some tough competition as the biggest and fastest boys came out to play from all the best tracks in Ontario. The first heat win was taken by Dwayne Baker driving the #48 car as he just could not be caught by anyone. A common sight on the track was Tyler Liscum(#14) started out in front and left no doors open as he won heat #3 driving a perfect race.  Veteran racer ‘Stompin’ Tom Walters in car #47 gave his all tonight with some of the most intense racing of the night as he took both heat #2 and heat #4 giving him a great starting place for the feature 75 lap race. The feature race had some great action, with all the most experienced and best racers out front, however ‘Stompin’ Tome Walters knew just what it took to get into the lead and knew what had to be done to keep it, keep an eye on him when the Autumn Classic comes Thanksgiving weekend.

OSCAAR Modifieds – We had some special guests tonight as some of the fastest cars in OSCAAR came to Peterborough Speedway, Canada’s toughest 1/3 mile oval. Darren Kernin driving #46 made his way into victory lane as he took heat #2. After a very skillful and tactical race, Justin Demellow(#82) took the checkered flag in heat #3 helping him out for that important feature race. Heat #4 had some great racers, but only one can make it to victory lane and after competing against many friends, Tim Burke in the #99 won it. Gary McClain in the #8 put so much effort into tonight you couldn’t help but stand and cheer as he took heat #1 and then following that with so much action, bumping and grinding won the important feature race.
