APC Championship Clash Settles 2025 Scores at Peterborough Speedway

Another regular season of weekly action wrapped-up Saturday, August 30th as Peterborough Speedway racers were crowned with 2025 titles at the popular Central Ontario oval.

Shannon Cappuccitti and Sam Arnott showed the way to the Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock green flag in the championship clinching 20 lap feature tilt. A pair of Mini Coopers provided the early race highlights, with Cappuccitti and 2024 champion Angelo Novis leading the way. Tegan Stanley pushed Rhonda the Honda to the race lead with 6 circuits complete, as the front runners caught the tail-end of the field a couple of laps before the halfway mark. Stanley maintained his lead following the show’s only caution, with championship hopeful Alex Dallaire taking 4th spot with 12 laps on the board. Stanley was first across the stripe at the checkered flag, followed by Cory Horne, who’s No. 09 was disqualified in post race inspection. Dallaire clinched the 2025 Bone Stock grown with a runner-up finish. Cappuccitti, Novis and Shawn Solomon completed the top 5.

With 15 laps or 20 minutes to settle the score, the Nadeau’s Collision Service Junior Late Models came to the Great Canadian RV green flag with Lyla Sikma and Avery Kirkpatrick on the front row. Brody Coates took the early race lead, with the pack encountering some slower traffic with a handful of laps on the scoreboard. Following a lap 12 yellow flag, Lucas Finnegan took control of things but quickly relinquished the position to Brayden Cappuccitti who scored the win. Coates and Finnegan were next across the line. Hudson Sellers clinched the Junior Late Model track championship with his 4th place finish, as Lyla Sikma completed the top 5.

Brad Stevenson and Rick Warnes brought the GEN-3 Electrical OMRS SportsMods starting field to the line for the group’s 20 lap headliner. Stevenson’s No. 77 ride had been strong all night and the group’s main event was no different. Even with teammate Chad Strawn gaining 3 spots in as many laps, Stevenson showed the crowd the fast way around. John Baker Jr. took the runner-up position with 8 laps on the scoreboard, with Strawn moving into 3rd. A yellow flag with 19 circuits complete meant a green, white checkered finish would determine the outcome. Strawn took 2nd place on the restart, but Stevenson held off his late race charge for the win. JBJ was 3rd, with Garrett Yake and Warnes rounding out the top 5.

John Lavalle and Dave Bragg were on the front row as the SwitchTire Mini Stocks came to the line for a 20-lap ‘A’ main. Lavalle was the early race leader, with James Townsend, Bragg and championship hopeful Mike Nelson in tow. A yellow flag with 4 laps complete slowed the pace and saw Townsend take the lead on the restart. Backmarkers became an issue as Townsend looked to maintain his advantage. The driver of the No. 14 machine held on for the win, as Nelson clinched the 2025 Bone Stock crown with his 2nd place finish. Lavalle, Bragg and Tyler McMurter chased the lead duo across the line.

Stephen Bierworth and Mark Gordon led the Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck field from the staging area for a 20-lap feature tilt. Gordon took the early race lead, with former champion Jack Dallin taking second, as Howie Crowe began his march toward the front of the pack. Gordon had built-up a straightaway advantage, while Crowe had his sights set on his championship rival. Gordon locked up the 2025 Renegade Truck title with the race win. Dallin, Crowe, Shawn Murray and Bierworth were next across the line.

Championship point leader Ryan Kimball and Steve Powell led the way to the Great Canadian RV green flag as the KOD Disposal Late Models concluded the 2025 schedule. Kimball locked up the point title the instant the vallance of his No. 16 Camry rolled under the green flag. The 25-lap affair had a caution free feel through the opening stages, with the leaders catching slower traffic 8 laps into the dance. Just a lap later, Dan McHattie – who had started deep in the field – moved into the runner-up position. The top 3 broke away from the pack at the halfway mark, with the race’s only yellow flag – for a spin by Kimball – waving with just 3 laps remaining. McHattie was the leader on the restart and hung on for the win. Kelly Balson, James Townsend, Ollie Ferguson and John Owen completed the top 5. Kimball rebounded for 7th at the checkered flag.

Clayton Reed and Donovan Price brought the Jiffy Lube Super Stock pack from the staging area for a 20-lap feature that would wrap-up the 2025 regular season. Reed took advantage of his front row starting spot and took the early lead, bringing championship contender Paul Boundy, Mike Sinopoli and Mark Gordon along with him. Like the Late Models, the Super Stock headliner ran most of the event caution free, with a lap 17 yellow slowing the pace. Boundy took the lead on the restart, with Reed reclaiming the spot a lap later and holding on for his first career win. Gordon took the runner-up position, with Boundy clinching the track title with his 3rd place showing. Kyle Gordon and Price were next across the stripe.

The night’s action concluded with a non-Winner’s event for the Nadeau’s Collision Junior Late Models. Carter Cappuccitti took the win over Gracelynn MacInnes, Knox Richardson, Robbie Miltimore, Lakelyn Junkin, Savannah Strawn and Wyatt Beatty.

Qualifying events for the Bone Stocks were taken by John Bates, Tegan Stanley, Shannon Cappuccitti and Alex Dallaire. Junior Late Model preliminary rounds went to Oliver Gibbons with a pair. Other winners included Avery Kirkpatrick, Brody Coates, Brayden Cappuccitti and Lucas Finnegan. OMRS SportsMods heat race winners were Brad Stevenson and John Baker Jr. John Lavalle and James Townsend took the Mini Stock opening round wins. Renegade Truck heat wins went to Shawn Murray, Howie Crowe, Stephen Bierworth and Mark Gordon. Dan McHattie had a couple of Late Model qualifying events, with the others going to championship contenders Ryan Kimball and Kelly Balson. Championship contender Paul Boundy swept the Super Stock qualifying.

All finishing positions are unofficial and subject scoring review and post race inspection.
