OMRS SportsMods Bill Pickford Memorial Comes to Peterborough Speedway

GEN-3 Electrical OMRS SportsMods officials and racers will honour one of the own during the Double Toonie/Fan Appreciation Night – Saturday, August 16th – at Peterborough Speedway.

The 2025 edition of the Bill Pickford Memorial will pay tribute to one of the group’s founding fathers. A former racer and series official, Pickford passed away in September of 2019 after struggling through a variety of medical issues. Since his loss, his OMRS brethren have honoured his contributions with an annual special event to recognise the veteran racer.

“Teams will run 30 and 31 lap feature events to represent the No. 61 Bill Pickford used during his racing career,” explained OMRS spokesperson Rick Warnes. “A total point format from both races will determine the overall finishing order and crown the 2025 winner of this prestigious showcase.”

Warnes says lap sponsorships are once again available for the event. Sponsorships are $ 61 per lap and can be purchased through e-transfer using the email address and instructions posted on the ‘OMRS – GEN3 Electrical SportsMods’ Facebook page. 75% of lap sponsorship money will be awarded to event competitors by increasing payout throughout all final average finishing positions of both features. 25% of lap sponsorship will be dedicated to a special cause that will be announced on raceday. Specialty awards are also open to donating sponsors.
