Summer Toonie Nights Return to Peterborough Speedway in 2018
A night of action at Peterborough Speedway has provided the ultimate value in family fun and entertainment for more than half a century. But 3 times each season, the sweetest motorsports deal in Central Ontario becomes an even bigger bargain, when Pepsi presents Summer Toonie Nights – featuring $2.00 spectator grandstand admission – at Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval. Track owner and promoter J.P, Josiasse says the partnership with Pepsi has proven to be a strong marriage that has lasted for more than 14 years.
“This year’s Summer Toonie Nights are June 2nd, July 7th and August 25th and they’re as popular with the drivers and race teams as they are with the fans,” Josiasse said. “Just before we start the feature events, the pit area will empty onto the front stretch and the crowd from the grandstands will get the chance to meet the drivers, collect some autographs and get a close-up look at the equipment.”
In addition to its strong weekly racing program, Peterborough Speedway is also home to several special events throughout the season. Josiasse says the one that’s making some of the biggest noise is the inaugural running of the Electric City 167. The combined Pro Late Model/Late Model feature tilt – scheduled for the Autumn Colours Classic – offers a $5000 winner’s payday, plus a share of $4175 in bonus bucks.
“It’ll be a big event to wrap-up Autumn Colours,” Josiasse added. “The season hasn’t even started yet, but we’ve already had an excellent response from people and companies looking to buy lap sponsorships for the Electric City 167.”
Peterborough Speedway’s promotional team welcomes the return of the APC Pro Late Model tour, the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series and a stop for the upstart Hoosier Racing Tire Ontario Outlaw Super Late Models. The track will also host the finale for the Canadian Legend Car Asphalt Nationals.
