Family Fields a Fist Full of Pick-Ups at Peterborough Speedway

Whether brought together by blood, through marriage or the bond of close, personal friendship, the family that plays together usually stays together.
From a home base in Bancroft, Ontario the Bierworth-Switzer clan brings 5 pick-ups to play each week with the Renegade Truck division at Peterborough Speedway.

Stephen Bierworth’s No. 49 is purported to be the ride that laid the foundation for the track’s unique racing division. Along the way, his daughter Stacy joined the weekly wars in various incarnations of a machine carrying No. 37, including a distinctive Dodge Rampage and the crowd favourite ‘Tonka’ truck.

When the popular Central Ontario venue opened the 2026 schedule, the number of teams making the regular haul to Peterborough had swelled to 5, with the No. 11 of Ethan Switzer, Isaiah Switzer – a former Bone Stock competitor – in the No. 78 and newcomer Riley Nicholson, piloting the group’s No. 79 piece. Even though they make up close to half of the venue’s weekly running order, the first goal will always be to have fun on the racetrack.

“Our racing operation may be based in North Hastings but during the spring, summer and fall Peterborough Speedway is our family’s second home,” said team spokesperson and driver of the No.37 Renegade Truck Stacy Switzer. “We all get along so well and enjoy meeting and talking to the fans. With its unique promotions and special events, the track does an incredible job of keeping the spirit of local racing alive and well.”

Stacy Switzer says the team is thankful to the local businesses and services who continue to back their teams and provide support for their home track racing adventures. The 5 truck Bierworth-Switzer team is thankful to sponsors Timber Works Forestry & Excavation, Eco Log, Maskinen, Penner Auto, Hamilton Excavating, Pipe Werx, Parks Tree Removal, Freymond Lumber, Faraday Forestry, Murphy’s Septic and Clarke Motorsports Communications. Crew chief Mitch Switzer appreciates the effort of the many friends and crew members who help out behind the scenes and at the track.

The Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck division will next return to Peterborough Speedway’s raceday line-up Saturday, July 4th and during the Mid Season Bash – presented by New Country KX105 – Saturday, July 11th.
