OMRS Opens its 2019 Season This Weekend at Peterborough Speedway
Central Ontario motorsports fans are in store for even more excitement, as the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series – powered by Torque Builders Inc. – launches its 2019 schedule Saturday, May 25th at Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval. As the host of 6 events on this year’s 8 race calendar, Peterborough Speedway is the official home track of OMRS and the popular open-wheeled tour’s brand continues to grow.
“Our drivers and teams have worked hard during the off-season and they’re all looking forward to hitting the track on the weekend for the first time this year,” said Rick Warnes, who along with Randy Hollingsworth and Bill Pickford make-up the series group of officials. “J.P. and Dave at Peterborough have been good friends to our runners over the years and I’m sure we’ll return their kindness with a great show.”
Rick Warnes says that several of the group’s previous champions – including Brad Stevenson, John Baker Jr. and Rob Warnes – are expected to be in the starting line-up for this weekend’s season opener. He also expects to have some new faces sign-up for action with the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series in 2019.
“There could also be some surprises in our driver roster,” Warnes said, with a smile. “Just like any season opening event, you never know who’ll show-up until their hauler rolls through the pit gate.”
