Ontario Legends Series Title to be Decided at the Autumn Colours Classic
Throughout its 26 year history, Peterborough Speedway’s Autumn Colours Classic has been described as a ‘must win’ event. Again this year, the Trailers Plus Ontario Legends Series will crown its annual tour championship at the prestigious Central Ontario spectacular. Spokesperson Andrew McFadden – who along with Jeff Drimmie and Kevin Foisy make-up the EOLS team of officials – says there are still a number of positions in the standings that are yet to be decided.
“Teams are still looking to lock-up their final spots in this year’s running order and Autumn Colours could make a big difference,” said Andrew McFadden. “Its been a great year, with very impressive car counts at every show. Many people have said they find it difficult to believe that season is winding down, but all good things must come to an end.”
Matt Haufe leads the All Ontario standings by 75 points over Kevin Foisy. Terry McLelland sits 3rd, with Dawson Drimmie and Cory Richardson rounding-out the top 5. In 2017, Haufe clinched the season championship in absentia, while on the road to compete in the US Legends Asphalt Nationals at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Bullring. With event scheduled for October 26th and 27th this year, the Stittsville, Ontario native is expected to be at Peterborough for this year’s Autumn Colours Classic.
Tour officials also pointed out that even though spots could change this weekend because the drivers are allowed to apply the annual Drop Night values to their point total. This year, instead of eliminating their lowest point night of the year from the season-ending statistics, it will be replaced with a value of 75 points. The Drop Night applies to only a single night of racing and drivers can use it in the All Ontario, Eastern or Western Ontario standings. They also need to make officials aware of their choice before the first green flag of Autumn Colours.
