Peterborough Speedway Launches its 2018 Line-Up Saturday Night
The countdown is nearly over and the time has come to kick the new year into gear. Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval rolls its 2018 schedule to the starting line with the Country 105 Season Opener – featuring free spectator grandstand admission – Saturday, May 19th at Peterborough Speedway. Track owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse and the team at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road west of the Liftlock City have put together an event calendar to satisfy the needs of even the most demanding race fan.
Getting things underway for the 51st consecutive season at the popular hometown venue will be the Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck, Super Stock and Late Model divisions. Also on the card will be Trailers Plus Eastern Ontario Legends, with a Fan Appreciation autograph session at intermission. Pit gates will open at 12:30, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 3:00 and 2018’s first green flag will hit the track at 5:00.
“After an amazing 50th anniversary season, everyone is excited to get the new schedule off and rocking,” J.P. Josiasse said. “We have some big events set to roll throughout the year, including the return of the Ontario Pro Challenge, OSCAAR Modifieds and Pro Midgets, APC Pro Late Model, Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup, Ontario Modifieds Racing Series, Can-Am TQ Midget tours and the Peterborough Speedway debut of the Ontario Outlaw Super Late Models.”
Josiasse also pointed out that the home track favourite Late Model, Mini Stock, Super Stock and Bone Stock classes will run 50 lap main events on June 2nd, June 23rd, July 7th and August 11th respectively. The Canadian Legend Car Asphalt Nationals’ finale is slated for Saturday, July 14th. Summer Toonie Nights – presented by Pepsi, with $2.00 grandstand admission – return June 2nd, July 7th and August 25th.
Bullring bullet points: The spotlight event of the 26th annual Autumn Colours Classic – October 5th through 7th – will be the inaugural running of the Electric City 167 – a combined Late Model/Pro Late Model headliner – scheduled for a Sunday, October 7th green flag.
