2015’s ‘Hot August Night’ Series at Peterborough Speedway is Ready to Roll
From the first Great Canadian RV green flag of the season, every driver in Peterborough Speedway’s 5 regular divisions had their sights set on just one goal. To score enough points to clinch the track championship. With the Saturday, July 25th show falling victim to Mother Nature, a handful of events this month will pave the way to the Championship Clash – Saturday, September 5th – at Canada’s Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval.
Saturday, August 1st the Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun and Mini Stock teams will be the first of the home track classes to pocket points in this year’s Hot August Night Series of action at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City. The same event will also play host to the Touring Chase for the Colours Pole Qualifier, as a trio of OSCAAR divisions – the Super Late Models, Modifieds and Midgets – will fight for prime starting spots at the 23rd Annual Autumn Colours Classic. Track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says it’s an exciting time of year for every driver who rolls through the pit gates.
“They will all be bringing their ‘A’ games and searching for any possible advantage,” said Josiasse. “Every position on the racetrack pays points toward the season’s title. Just look at last year, where the final Thunder Car finishing order was decided by a single point and you’ll know how important it is to get everything you can from your equipment.”
Looking ahead on the schedule finds the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series 100 lapper, along with the Battlefield Equipment Rental 4Fun, Mini Stock and Paul Davis Systems Thunder Car teams – Saturday, August 8th. Although not on the original schedule, an asphalt/dirt vintage modified exhibition event has also been added to the August 8th event.
Saturday, August 15th is the year’s final Toonie Spectator Grandstand Admission/Fan Appreciation Night with 4Fun, Mini Stock, Earl Ireland Late Model, INEX Ontario Legend and Ontario Modifieds Racing Series action. For each of the first 2 events this month, pit gates will open at 2:00 with racing at 6:00. On Fan Appreciation Night, racing starts at 5:00.
